The photographer
I´m Amanda, a photographer based in Malaga Spain, originally from Sweden and my photography focuses on motherhood and family on film. Ambar Luna is my daughter. Her name came to us while I was carrying her in my womb, in what we experienced as magic. She gave life an entirely new meaning – and with it, my photography. Without knowing what it was, a women also told me I should use her name for my business and so I did. That´s why I chose to let her name and her energy represent my photography business.
I sort of been drawn to the female figure a long time. Before photographing I was painting bodies. I like shapes, skin, the natural and raw. And it's meaningful to portray something as emotionally charged as pregnancy and motherhood. It is emotional, it is powerful, it is beautiful, and it is both magical and mysterious. The shape of the pregnant body carries a charge of love, care, and the continuation of life. It is both sensual and powerful.
With babies, the smallest gester makes us in awe. They are fascinatingly beautiful. The curves, the little hands and feet and the plump cheeks. We can't really get enough of photographing our children through all there stages. And then later, we can show them how much we cared for and loved them.
My way of capturing this story is mostly through analog film photography. With film photography the colors often become warmer or more dreamlike, especially in the transitions between light and darkness. It creates a more organic variation. Small irregularities emerge in the grain, the light, and the colors – which make the image feel more alive. With film photography you also have to have another approach, another intention and presence.
I really like the creative process in photography where technique and emotion meet. Through the choice of light, angle, composition, and post-processing, one creates an interpretation of reality and tells a story, capturing an atmosphere and a feeling.
My work as a pregnancy, newborn and family photographer in Malaga grows from the same place as my art once did: a fascination with light, form and portraying. I’m drawn to the softness of motherhood, the art of breastfeeding and the authentic rhythm of family life. Here in Malaga, I offer sessions for mothers and families who want images that feel organic, emotional and timeless — photographs that hold the atmosphere of this moment in your life.
